Lavender

Delicately scented, lavender has been delighting our hearts and senses since the dawn of time. It's age-old, famous, small lilac flowers are now the face of the Mediterranean.... And it doesn't stop there: it is recognised as having numerous properties. Of course, our brewmasters couldn't pass it up!

What's lavender's story?

Ah lavender... It's so delicate, so fragrant! We love it! But many of us are unaware of its rich history.

This ancient plant is thought to have originated in the Mediterranean, more specifically in the Persian Gulf, where it is mentioned as early as the 1st century AD.

Although the word "lavender" as we know it first appeared in the Middle Ages, the plant has actually been in use for many years: the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used it to fragrance their baths and clothes. Lavender was later used in perfumes, as well as in remedies and medicines! And it's not all about the fragrance, this little plant is also very useful.

Lavender is a member of the Labiatae family, and has several different species. There are several types of lavender, all of which belong to the Lavandula genus. In France, however, there are only three species: French lavender, English lavender and Portuguese lavender.

What are the benefits of lavender in Les 2 Marmottes teas and infusions?

Although lavender smells delicious, it was best known to the ancients as an aid for relaxation. It is also sometimes used to help you get a better night's sleep. That's why it's often used in bath bubbles, salts and oils.

But there's more!

Taken after meals, for example, it is traditionally used to improve digestive comfort in cases of temporary stress.

Lavender is sometimes used to treat minor wounds and insect bites... pretty handy eh?

In which blends do our brewmasters use lavender?

With Peace Granny, you can totally chill out! At work, at the gym, at home, it's delicious wherever you drink it... you don't have to be a granny to enjoy this sweet, floral infusion. The blackcurrant leaves bring a subtle scent, which is just as potent in hot or cold water.

Would you prefer a nice cup of tea? Our brewmasters have just what you need with our ORGANIC Back in Shape? tea. It contains: green tea, rose petals and lavender for a gentle return to fitness. We're taking full advantage of these floral notes.... Ok? Who said that slimming and a good mood were mutually exclusive?
