Are we getting enough sleep?
All the studies seem to say we're not. Poor sleep, restless nights, insomnia, waking up in the middle of the night: a cosy rest under the duvet is hard to come by.
Whether you're a short sleeper or a heavy sleeper, getting a good night's sleep is essential. During this resting phase, our metabolism takes the opportunity to recover, our cells regenerate, our fat is transformed into muscle and our immune system is restored. So it's no coincidence that the phrase "restorative sleep" has been coined.
Sleeping soundly means giving yourself a moment's respite, but more importantly it gives your mind and body a chance to recharge! Obviously, the deeper and healthier the sleep, the more effective it will be... That's why it's important to do everything you can to ensure a restful night.
When it comes to getting to sleep and staying that way, it's all about being relaxed.
Sure, it's easy to say, but plants are there to help you naturally achieve a state of optimal relaxation. Take chamomile for example. Its calming properties can help you ease away the stresses of the day.
Ideal before going to bed, it will come to your rescue when your mind refuses to let go.
In addition to the power of plants, take a moment each evening before bed to find a tranquil state of mind so you can rest well all night long. This moment in time, just for you, where your chamomile tea helps you unwind from the stresses of the day, breathe and refocus on yourself to lay the foundations for a healthier sleep.
Leave your problems behind and forget the stresses and strains of daily life as you're gently lulled to sleep.
Establishing an evening ritual with a relaxing herbal tea is a little bit of self-care that will help your sleep cycle. But how about taking things a step further?
For a truly restorative night's sleep, it's best not to overdo it at dinner. If you've eaten or drunk too much, if you've consumed stimulating products (like coffee, tea or alcohol) you're likely to have a restless night!
In the same way, if your stomach is crying out for food at 2 am, chances are it's going to wake you up. Listen to your body, eat healthily and stay hydrated, then you should be fine.
Another enemy of tranquil nights is screens and their infamous blue light... Whether it's a TV, smartphone or tablet, it's best to turn it off one hour before you curl up under the duvet.
We're counting on you to instigate a digital curfew in favour of a relaxing moment over a nice cup of Les 2 Marmottes herbal tea.
And if you're not a fan of the taste of camomile, try our other evening herbal teas, our brewmasters have plenty of blends for you to try!
